Train Debut Layout - Shortfall In Instructions

Kudos to Akiyuki for posting instructions - awesome! This saves a ton of work reverse engineering from the videos and photos. But there are some gaps.

This post is the first in a series that hopefully fill those gaps.

Gap Between Elevator and Dumper



The highlighted area is not included in the instructions for the dumper or the elevator. Without it the gap between the two is too small to allow the trains to pass.

I created the following instructions for the 'bridge' piece shown.

Instructions for the Reverse module V-type

Akiyuki provides good instructions for the reverse module  here . This includes the two-armed rotator that drives the suspension section that reverses the train direction. However for the V-type version modifications, he only provides a couple of photos. While it isn't too difficult to interpret the photos, I've created some instructions and a parts list to make it a little easier for people who just want to get it built. I've also included a slight modification to prevent the lift arm from lifting off the switch changer. In Akiyuki's videos the mechanism works seamlessly but I had problems where the lift arm would rotate off the changer under pressure. This is probably because my switch point is quite stiff and takes quite a bit of pressure to change. Also note the changer mechanism is very slightly rotated to make it align with the technic rotation points which probably makes the tendency to lift off worse. Parts List for Entire Debut Layout

There have been quite a few queries for parts lists. I've added a couple in previous posts for some of the areas not covered by Akiyuki's instructions. But he didn't include any actual parts lists with those instructions - just the visual representation appended to each set of instructions. I have created a parts list for each of the modules as Rebrickable custom lists. I have also created a master list for all of the parts to complete the debut layout including the extra pieces where there are no explicit instructions. It is in a simple csv format but can be easily modified for Bricklink or other formats as required. Debut Layout Parts List (6305 parts) The parts list is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. I have built it up over time as I discovered more parts necessary to complete the layout. (If you haven't used Rebrickable before, I strongly recommend you check it out  here .)

Hi I've finally decided to bite the bullet and start a blog page for Whiplash Lego. In the past I've used  this Facebook page but now it's time to get serious. So welcome to Whiplash Lego...the blog spot. First project to tackle - Akiyuki's new train system. I've had a crack at building some of Akiyuki's stuff in the past and it can be very challenging. Akiyuki is a genius. His creations are magnificent and captivating but they can be very complex and difficult to build. Historically he rarely provides any help with building his creations and almost never provides direct instructions.
